Clinica Sierra Vista

Clinica Sierra Vista has been providing comprehensive primary care services to disadvantaged populations for over 46 years, and currently serves Kern, Inyo, and Fresno counties in California. CSV’s service area encompasses several thousand square miles of farmland, desert, and mountains; it is the nation’s second largest federally qualified health center. CSV is recognized at the local, state and national levels as a leader in the provision of primary health care and preventative health education services to low-income individuals and families and among the medical community as a multi-institutional model for rural health care delivery.

CSV opened its doors in 1971 and currently operates 30 community health centers, 9 dental centers, and 22 behavioral health centers in Kern, Inyo, and Fresno Counties. In 2016, we served 148,304 patients through 581,163 encounters; 61.77% of CSV patients live below the federal poverty level, 87.97% live below 200% of the federal poverty level, and 22.41% do not have health insurance. Twenty-four percent of our patients are migrant and seasonal farm workers (MSFWs) and 75.45% are Latino.

Clinica’s core mission and vision is to provide health care access to the most medically vulnerable populations and improve the quality of life for low-income, underserved community residents of all ages. Clinica Sierra Vista has a HPSA score of 19, therefore, is well positioned to offer NHSC scholarship and loan repayment opportunities.
