Anuradha Rao, MD

Dr. Rao is a board certified pediatrician who has practiced in the Bakersfield community for nearly 20 years. She joined Clinica Sierra Vista in 2015 as a pediatric faculty member in the Rio Bravo Family Medicine Residency Program. Having practiced in multiple settings (HMO, solo private practice, and group practice), she is excited to work for a federally qualified health center that is dedicated to providing patient centered health care to Kern County’s underserved population. Dr. Rao received her bachelors degree in biochemistry from UC Berkeley. After attending medical school at UC San Diego, she completed her Pediatric residency training at Stanford University. She enjoys teaching general pediatrics to students of all levels, including nursing and medical students, nurse practitioner students, as well as family practice residents.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr.Rao practices general pediatrics at CSV’s Greenfield Community Health Center. Her active areas of interest include : providing comprehensive and integrated medical care to CSV’s medically fragile pediatric population; early diagnosis and management of developmental disorders; delivering primary care in resource poor settings outside the United States. As a member of the Flying Samaritans, she routinely visits the town of San Felipe in Baja California, Mexico to provide primary care services. Dr. Rao serves on the medical advisory board of Caring Corner, a daycare for medically fragile children. She is a member of the Medically Vulnerable Child Coalition Project (MVCCP), an advocacy group for at risk medically fragile children. She also represents Clinica Sierra Vista at Operation Saving Smiles, a state-wide Initiative which aims to improve dental health in young children through oral health education and linkage to dental services.
